Masa Cuti
Ahrend
Ahrend is a company that designs office furniture, but after the first lockdown many people had discovered the comforts of working from home and might not want to come back to the office.
To help and intice people back into the office Masa Cuti was created. A table with sounddemping pannels that can easily be highered or lowered to create the perfect balance between a quiet workspace and collaboration.

The Problem
During the first lockdown of 2020 many people became used to working from home and the benefits this brought, like flexible work hours, no coworkers who ask for help and more privacy. Though the social interaction was missed, many people did question why they would go back to the office when it was not strictly necessary.
Ahrend wanted to create a workplace where people would feel safe and comfortable to come back to the office. To do this my team wanted to create a space that was optimized for both teamwork and privacy.
Ideation
My team came up with over a hundred ideas and then converged down till only four ideas were left.
Prototyping
My team and I created and tested prototypes for the 4 selcted ideas.
Testing
To choose the right material I tested many sound damping materials to find that Green Glue worked the best. After this I made a prototype of the final sound damping panels and the scissor mechanism.
Final concept

Masa Cuti
The panels of the Masa Cuti can easily be highered and lowered with the hydraulic pumps, making switching between teamwork and privacy a piece of cake.
