Never Stop Listening
My love for creating started when I was a young child. Sitting still was never an option for me, so crafting it was. I loved exploring new materials and worked with everything from fuse beads, to fabrics, to paints and wood. At first I thought of this as nothing more than a hobby, but when I realized that everything around me had to be made by someone, this changed.
I started looking at products differently and tried to discover why they did or didn’t work. I learned that design was about more than shapes and colours. The real challenge laid with discovering why the product is used, how the product would be used and by whom. To truly understand this, we as designers need to listen. Listen to different people’s problems and incorporate different solutions in our products. But also listen to scientist who say that if we don’t do something now, we irreversibly damage our beloved home.
The power of design is bringing all these different sounds together to create a cohesive product that will help the user and our planet.
